The Women, Infant and Children (WIC) Program provides low-income women, infants, and children up to age 5 who are at nutritional risk with nutritious foods. In addition to the regular WIC program, a majority of the states have chosen to operate the WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP), which provides additional coupons to WIC participants so that they can use them to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables at participating farmers markets.
